Default Paragon PvE Builds

Seeing as there appears to be a lack of Paragon builds posted, I thought I'd post mine. These work well at all levels, obviously the level at which you can cap the elites notwithstanding. PvE is pretty easy so I dont feel the need to make total power builds. Rather, I prefer builds that are both fun and functional.

Here's the gear I use:

15^50 14-27 Collector Spear Of Fortitude
+5e 14-27 Collector Spear Of Fortitude
Command Shield with 20%/-5, +30hp
Motivation Shield with 20%/-5, +30hp
Maxed armour set (I use Elite Sunspear dyed black)
Survivor Insignias on all gear possible
Two slots for stat runes
One slot for Vigor Rune
Two slots for Vitae Runes

Motivation Healer P/w

Check out the PvP forums for this build. It works exactly the same in PvE. Spam shouts to keep your energy up and your Mending Refrain refreshing. very simple, very effective.

Angelic Spearmaster P/x

Spear 12+3+1
Command 10+1
Leadership 8

Spear Of Lightning
Burning Spear
Wild Throw
"Go For The Eyes!"
Aggressive Refrain
Leader's Comfort
Angelic Bond {E}
Sunspear Rez Signet/Signet Of Capture

This can chuck out a fair amount of single target damage at perma 25% haste and a lot of adrenaline building, whilst simultaneously buffing your team's crit rate (GtfE charges once every couple of seconds). Wild Throw rules in Nightfall, since there's so many mobs with block/evade stances. Since you're at the back, you can buff your tank with Angelic Bond as he charges and share damage with him, healing with Leader's Comfort when neccessary. You can also effectively battleheal with this combo too. Don't be fooled into thinking LC is a great heal though, as a lot of people seem to be; it isn't, it's average. Slow cast, long recharge.

Party-Buffing Shouts P/W

Spear 12+3+1
Command 10+1 (Im not sure how I tweaked this, but Never Surrender ended up at 6hp regen iirc)
Leadership 8

Spear of Lightning
Burning Spear
Wild Throw
Soldier's Fury {E}
"Never Surrender!"
"Shields Up!"
"Watch Yourself!"
Sunspear Rez Signet/Signet Of Capture

This build does pretty damn good single target damage and supports the party well with Shields Up/Watch Yourself in a chain, and Never Surrender for extra partywide healing.

Burning Bonder P/W

Leadership 12+3+1
Spear Mastery 10+1
Command 8+1

Burning Refrain
Anthem Of Flame
"They're On Fire!"
"Go For The Eyes!"
"Watch Yourself!"
Leader's Comfort
Angelic Bond {E}
Sunspear Rez Signet/Signet Of Capture

Between Burning Refrain and Anthem of Flame, most melee enemies should be on fire most of the time. "They're On Fire!" and "Watch Yourself!" will cut down on incoming damage considerably, and GtfE/Watch is like an energy battery. The comfort/bond slots can be anything you like really, but given that this is a more back line character, a little bit of extra healing power never hurts.

Paragons can do a lot of stuff, and they're very different to other classes in the way they play. Experiment and have fun, they're pretty damn cool. The only trouble I really have is fitting both rez and cap sigs on a bar with all the skills I want to combo

Those are all great. I don't know where you cap Angelic bond, but I most like the last build you wrote. Thanks for sharing!

This is the build I used to great effect throughout...

Command 12 + 2 + 1
Leadership 9 + 2
Spear Mastery 9
Tactics 3

Leader's Comfort
Stand Your Ground!
Go for the Eyes!
Watch Yourself!
Never Surrender!
Focused Anger/Incoming!
Signet of Capture/Lightbringer Gaze/Opt.
Signet of Return

Focused Anger and Incoming can be interchanged depending on preference. FA will allow you to keep Watch Yourself up constantly and GftE almost every other attack, or Incoming provides 7 seconds of 50% damage. I've been sticking to FA for the most part since I capped it.

Stand Your Ground + Watch Yourself = +44 armor if you aren't moving, which I've found really mitigates damage. Attributes aren't quite right yet due to inavailibilty of runes.

I found a melee paragon to be effective for pve, partially done this because i found a chaklin's axe and wanted to put it to use, and it's worked very nice so far it's basically made to be an aoe burner, works really nice for that. i wonder if P/R with apply poison could make this even more sick

Cyclone Axe
Cleave (Elite)
Anthem Of Flame
"They're On Fire!"
Blazing Finale
Never Surrender! / Fall Back!
Aggressive Refrain
Rez Signet/Signet Of Capture

basically anything around you is going to catch fire, and have their dmg decreased by 40+%, making you a pretty good tank and the AoE dmg for this build is sick. Anthem of flame + Cyclone axe will burn everything it hits, and Cleave added in there gives you a nice single target damage attack that is up often. Sometimes i put "fall back!" in there because sometimes i just like to skip past groups, and there's times when the added party + speed buffs can be very helpful to mission success (like the garden mission for instance)

anyway there's a build that worked really well for me in pve.

This is my build and I seem to do ok with it. I'm kind of heavy on the runes but I seem to get away with it.

This is a support others build for PvE.

Spear Mastery 7 + 3
Command 11 + 3
Motivation 11 + 3
Leadership 7

Superior Vigor
Survivor Rune

Incoming (Elite)
Mighty Throw - This could be better I guess.
Signet of Synergy
Ballad of Restoration
Go for the Eyes!
Energizing Finale
Stand Your Ground!
Sunspear Rebirth Signet

Cyclone axe will only burn 1 target around you. Burning refrain triggers when Anthem of Flame ends so that's what causes the aoe burning.

I am not sure about Anthem of Flame + Cyclone but I do know Anthem of Flame + Barrage will set multiple targets on fire. With my Paragon I took the ranger hero and have tested this out many times with the exact same results.

One thing I am confused about is people saying that Paragons suck for damage on their own from spear attacks. I have found that I do rather nice dmg from my Paragon using spears. You can run something like this if you want:

P/W

Spear Mastery 16 (12+3+1)
Leadership 13 (12+1)
Tactics 3

Spear of Lightning
Blazing Spear
Wild Throw
Cruel Spear {E}
Natural Temper/For Greater Justice!
Aggressive Refrain
Watch Yourself!
Burning Refrain/Optional

With this build you will be constantly with an IAS thanks to Watch Yourself. With either of the adrenaline increasing skills you should be able to spam the heck out of the 3 adrenaline attacks. I have used this build in PvE with nice results.

are you sure about that? because everytime i fired off cyclone axe i've seen everything around me with the burning animation on them. this is even without using finale or refrain

Ppl are under estimating the power of the Paragon. Right now I'm, running a throw together build till I can change my second prof (damn mouse). But even so, yesterday I use one attack with my crafted spear and I hit a lvl 14 (i was lvl 8 at the time) with 86 dmg. I was like holy crap!!! The paragons are versitile, but u have to know how to handle them.

Well here goes my build:

P/X

Leadership 10
Command 11
Spear Mastery 11

"Go for the Eyes!"
Leader's Comfort
Aggresive Refrain
Burning Refrain
Disrupting Spear/Wild Throw/any spear attack
Lightning Spear/Vicious Attack/any spear attack
Cruel Spear {E}
Rez Sig/Sunspear Rebirth Sig

Pretty much just throw on the refrains, cast GftE whenever its rdy and spam your spear attacks...nothing to it.

Here is my own build: (valid for both pve and pvp; already tried it)

ParagoSH! (the name I've just invented xD)
Paragon/Warrior

ARMOR:[all parts with a radiant insigna]
Superior Motivation[head]
Superio Vigor (or major as well)[body]
Minor Spear[gloves]
+2 energy rune[legs]
Minor Leadership[shoes]

ATTRIBUTES
Spear: 10 (9+1)
Leadership: 10 (9+1)
Motivation: 16 (12+3+1)
Tactic:0

Equip:
Spear max dmg (req 9/10)
energy+5
double adrenaline (10%)
HP+30

Shield defense:16 (req: 8/9/10/11/12/13 motivation)
HP+30
Dmg decrease -5(20%)

Skills:
Barbed Spear
Song of Restoration [E]
Ballad of Restoration
Zealous Anthem
"Watch Yourself!"
Finale of Restoration
Mending Refrain
Ress Signet

HOW TO USE IT:
1) Before the combat starts put on each of ur teammates mending refrain; use the refrain on urself then, when the rechargin time is finishing, use a song; immediatelly after u casted the song, use the refrain on the next teammate, and keep going like this. To refresh the Mending Refrain, use the next chorus immediately after that the first one has finished his effect.

2) While u are fighting keep attacking an enemy: the important thing isn't the damage, but the adrenaline that u have to gain. With this adrenaline u will use "Watch Urself!" spamming it. With the tactic attribute=0 "Watch Yourself!" will be 5 seconds long. This will grant u an always refreshing effect on your teammates mending refrains. In addition, each time you will use "Watch yourself!" you will gain a 5 energy bonus thx to your leadership attribute. You will never be out of energy even thx to the Zealous Anthem.

3)Try to change enemy and put on different enemys a bleeding effect with barbed spear. Use barbed spear only if u need energy and u have already activated the Zealous Anthem or if your enemy isn't bleeding.

4)While in combat, always spam your chorus and ballads.

I hope you'll enjoy my build

EDIT: I've just seen that the user Zinger314 (I hope I'm not wrong on the name!) already had posted a similar build. Well, I really didn't know it, then dont flame me^^ Anyway the 2 builds are quite different.

Thumbs up Great Build!

Chrono,

THANKS for the great build, its use, and the explanation of how to use 'Echo'.

My Paragon is only level 13.8, so can't access the same skills you used. Here is a modified build that I've used for quests ''big news, small package' thru 'trial by fire' with devastating effect. Used exact same way you described. Looking forward to getting the complete "Opera of Restoration" :-)

I guess we can call this one 'ParagoSH Jr' !

NOTE: This build mostly for newer players, so I'm taking the time to explain it so that even I could have understood it a few days ago!

Eq: Bonus Item Fiery Sunspear of Kickbutt: 14-27, A+7, E+5
(if you got pre-release, type /bonusitems in chat to get it. Nightfall Pre-release still avail in stores for about $5 and WELL WORTH IT!)

Attrs...
Spr: 9
Cmd: 2
Mot: 3
Ldr: 9+1

Skills (I use number pad, so arranged differently)
Anthem O'Flame
Barbed Spear
Zealous Anthem
Leader Comfort
Signet O'Synergy
Mending Refrain
Signet of Return
Aria of Restoration

Pre-Battle Preparations: place Mending refrain on self and heros and healer. You can ALSO place it on the entire party if you wish. Here's how
(same as Chrono described)...

Select self
Mending Refrain
Anthem o'Flame << when expires, renews Mending Refrain

Select hero 1
...Wait for Mending refrain recharge...
Mending Refrain
Zealous Anthem << when expires, renews Mending Refrain on ALL

Select hero 2
...Wait for Mending refrain recharge...
Mending Refrain
Aria o'Restoration << when expires, renews Mending Refrain on ALL

Select hero 3
...Wait for Mending refrain recharge...
Mending Refrain
Anthem o'flame << when expires, renews Mending Refrain on ALL

Select Healer (if party of 8)
...Wait for Mending refrain recharge...
Mending Refrain
Zealous Anthem << when expires, renews Mending Refrain on ALL

<repeat for each party member if you wish>

Now do mission! Remember to activate...
Anthem Flame OR Zealous Anthem OR Aria Restoration
...every 10 sec so. Each targets everyone, and when each expires it resets the 20 sec countdown on Mending Refrain. VERY nice!

A couple tips (for other new folks)...

- first time you try this, drag the hero control panels to top of screen. (click gray button next to hero name to see these). As you go thru above procedure, you'll see the echo icon appear below ea hero, and you'll see the effect of expiring chants on maintaining 'Mending'. I didn't clearly understand the Chrono build until I did this.

- I leave these control panel up there during movement to contact and battle. As a chant expires, it starts to flash, and it's a signal to do another chant. Also, it's a nice way to ENSURE that Mending didn't expire while you were picking up that priceless vial of brown dye :-)

- when in battle, watch your CONTROLS, and do these things in this order of priority:
-- activate Anthem Flame & Zealous Anthem & Aria Restoration as they expire
-- use Leader Comfort on you if you get spiked
-- use Signet o'Synergy on team member if THEY get spiked
-- make sure Mending hasn't expired on team member, if so, renew.
-- if all well, select closest enemy and initiate spear atk to generate adrenalin.
-- when enough adren, use barbed spear

Note on Mending Refrain: Yes, I KNOW that it only gives +2 health regen, but that seems to be enough to carry everyone thru battle. Hopefully I can get the full Restoration Operatic Suite before the enemies get powerful enough to make this method obsolete.
